The Post Office is a shop where you can buy: gifts, toys, stamps, sweets, paper and stationery. Also, since this is a Post Office, you can send parcels to your Great Auntie in Australia! This also has a built-in mail box outside of the building to send your letters. Found next to J.Raine & Son.

Café 1618 is a very nice café which doesn’t only do cuppas! It does lunches and evening meals too. It includes a Beer Garden and outside tables. If you just want a snack, a meal, or even a pint-this is the perfect café. Positioned next to the Bakery
For a cut that is literally 'a cut above' go to Scotties Hairdressers.
McFarlane’s Family Butchers is a shop that sells: meat, pies, sausages, burgers, cheese and in this special shop, they sell soft drinks. It has extremely friendly and funny staff. This is one of two family butchers though; there is also one in Barnard Castle. They can also deliver your meat too! It is found opposite to the Bakery.
Chambers Chemist the local chemist of this area. It sells all the needed toiletries, medicine and throat sweets. They also supply prescriptions for the people who need weekly pills and medicine. It is placed next to Café 1618.
R&L Armitage is a great grocery shop in the middle of the village of Middleton-in-Teesdale. It sells: sweets, milk, Ice-Cream, fruit, vegetables and tinned foods-also with plants outside it when it is sunny out. It is found on the left of Step In.
H.M Cooke is a shop where you can buy clothes and hats. If you have just lost your flap cap and you’re just about to go on a marathon walk, you can quickly nip into H.M Cooke and buy the most attractive flap cap you see. So this is a very handy shop. It is next to Step In.
Step In is a great shop to buy: gifts, postcards, Ice-Cream (when it’s hot) and sweets by the pound. It is perfect for the walkers who pass by walking the North Pennies wanting to send a postcard to their family to say how well their walk is going and to buy an Ice-Cream to cool them down.
The Tourist Information Centre is a great place to find out what attractions there are in the wonderful dale of Teesdale. They also supply maps for the walkers and leaflets for nearby attractions.
G&J Newsagents are a great place to buy your daily newspaper. You can also get them delivered to your house daily. They also sell: magazines, sweets, lottery tickets; gifts and drinks. With very helpful staff and located in the very heart of the village of Middleton-in-Teesdale.
The Conduit Café, located next to J. Raines and son, is a fantastic pit stop for all the walkers walking through the North Pennies. It serves great tea and coffee to refuel the exhausted walkers passing through the very peaceful town of Middleton-in-Teesdale.
