School Open for Key Worker and Vulnerable Children Only

3rd January 2021 By alisonbrown

Dear Parents,
School will be open Tuesday January 5th for key worker and vulnerable children only.  This is due to concerns around increases in national and local transmission rates.  Remote learning will take place starting from Tuesday. I can only apologise for the late notification; however, this is due to reasons beyond my control. Please use the school email address if you have any questions and I will try my very best to answer them.
Kindest regards
Mrs. Hodgson

Inset Day (Non-Teaching Day) – Friday 18th December 2020

9th December 2020 By alisonbrown

Dear Parents/Carers,

Following the government end of term advice for schools (received yesterday 8 Dec) we are changing an INSET day, making Friday 18 December a non-teaching day and using the day for staff training.
It has been recommended that all schools ensure staff, parents and carers are aware of the following information and relevant arrangements regarding positive cases in the holidays:
Where a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school, the school should not be contacted. Parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.
For the first 6 days after teaching ends, if a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school, the school is asked to assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in school.
School staff are not asked to remain on-call or conduct any contact tracing more than 6 days after the final day of teaching. Where a schools last teaching day is on Thursday 17th December, there should be no pupil contact tracing asked beyond Wednesday 23 December.
Thank you for your continued support this term. School will reopen Tuesday January 5th.

Governor – Miss Jennie Lee

12th March 2020 By alisonbrown

My name is Jennie Lee and I work full-time as a Primary school teacher. I have lived in Teesdale all of my life and have two young children. I am also a part-time Taekwondo Instructor and have visited South Korea three times both to learn Taekwondo and teach English. When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my partner and our two children at home looking after our sheep, hens and geese.

School inspections – a guide for parents_200618

Ofsted are also keen to listen to the views of our Pupils, please see below.

Information for Pupils
Ofsted is inspecting your school, and would like to hear your views. You can do this by completing an online pupil questionnaire at the following link: https://ofsted.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/Pupil/10059158

Your views are really important to us, and will help inspectors understand your experience of school. The questionnaire will close at 11am on 26 February 2019, to give the inspector time to look at the results. The questionnaires work in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer 11, and on mobiles and tablets when you copy and paste the link into the browser.

We do not ask for your name, so you will not be identified from the responses you make.

School Meal Increase – September 2018

12th July 2018 By alisonbrown

We would like to remind you that Middleton-in-Teesdale Nursery & Primary School provides a school meal service offering hot, nutritionally balanced meals, freshly prepared and cooked on the school premises.

On return from the Summer break on 4th September 2018 school meals will be offered at £2.05 per day (a small increase of 5p per day) which represents excellent value compared to neighbouring authorities that charge on average £2.20 per meal.

The meals are produced in house by our own catering staff and offer a pre-ordered choice from 2 main courses and a dessert per day. Each meal is developed to ensure the right amount of protein, carbohydrates, fruit and vegetables is available while avoiding confectionary and artificially-sweetened drinks, with limits on the fat, salt and sugar content in each meal.

The good news is that if your child or children attends an infant school or infant classes from Reception to Year 2 then school meals will continue to be free to them.

So make sure your child gets the healthy option, the menus can be found on the school app or via our website using the following link:-

Menu Choices Spring 2018

Please be advised that if you wish to change from school meals onto packed lunches this can be accommodated at the end of each half term, this is due to the administrative time it takes to change menus and the associated changes in purchasing food provisions.

Should you wish to change from school meals onto packed lunches or vice-versa, please could you inform the school office by Thursday 19th July 2018 at the very latest.

Don’t forget that if your child has a special dietary requirement (supported by a Medical Practitioner) then this can still be provided for.

Many thanks.
